Creative Startups: What does creativity mean to you?
Amanda Sabreah: Creativity really is a just figment of your imagination and how you make it come into reality.
CS: What is your background/creative past?
AS: I have a past in the AD world. I used to lead content strategy and production. I'd say I’ve spent over 5 years in the creative space. I previously went to Savanah Collnege of Art and Design (SCAD). David also went to SCAD; he has more of a business background in sustainability. He started Compost Wheel, the largest composting company in the Southeast, when we were still at SCAD.
CS: What does entrepreneurship mean to you?
AS: I have a few words that I would use to describe entrepreneurship. It is based on persistence, creativity, and imagination and organization. It takes persistence around what you envision and the organizational skills to make that happen.
CS: How do you describe yourself as an entrepreneur?
AS: I completed the questions on the module and it said I am an Entrepreneur who leads from the heart. What makes me persistent is knowing that I am building a platform to help a lot of people become entrepreneurs themselves. I use this model to emphasize with the team, asking not just what can you bring to Partnr but what can it do for you.
CS: What type of leader are you? What are your leadership qualities?
AS: It is important to have the understanding that we are all human and we are all learning; we are all in this together. It can get frustrating with little money. A key component to being a good leader is understanding where people are in their own personal journey, even if they don’t tell you.
CS: Are there any traits and qualities that you see as specific to creative entrepreneurs?
AS: Yes definitely. I believe the creative industry is the hardest to be entrepreneur in and to start a company in. Creatives put heart and soul into choosing what they use. It takes special people that have heart and soul to build products and business for creatives.
CS: What stage is your startup currently in?
AS: We have a beta version out. We are still in the early stages working on getting the product right. We are almost there, in the next 6 weeks we will be moving to the growth stage.
CS: Whom do you see needing to add to your team as you move into the next stage?
AS: We will need to scale both the technical team and the growth team
CS: Was their anything in particular that you found made a real impact or stood out to you in week 1 of the accelerator program?
AS: Yes, understanding the difference between the customer and the end user. I didn’t understand how different they really are. It has changed how we conduct user interviews and collect feedback.
AS: Our mission is to empower and enable creative people to execute and produce their pieces of art easier. By providing access and connection to creators, we unearth the truth that in every part of the world with the right tools and resources we can accomplish our goals.
CS: What core problem does your product solve and how is it going to make a difference in the world/industry?
AS: The core problem is that companies, creatives and agencies spend too much time and money on production and management of creative projects - and management is not fun. By eliminating this large chunk of time and money that goes into production and management, they can produce more ideas faster, all while making it rewarding by having the ability to share their progress with their friends and community.
