Creative Startups helps you overcome these challenges and risks through providing you with a world-class intensive course in Creative Entrepreneurship, connecting you with successful creative entrepreneurs who are passionate about mentoring you, and accessing angel and vc investors.  If you are selected to take part in Creative Startups you will:

  • Work 1 on 1 with Mentors from your industry
  • Access to all 70+ of our Mentors, and our global network
  • Craft a profitable business model, reach new customers
  • Connect to industry leaders and open doors to bigger markets
  • Network with visionary creatives, founders of iconic brands, & CEO’s
  • Pitch to our network of Investors excited to support creative ventures.

While most accelerators focus on tech companies, Creative Startups is an accelerator built from the bottom up with creative entrepreneurs in mind.  We look for entrepreneurs who blur the lines between technology and the creative industries.  The program's team, mentors, Virtual Accelerator, 5-day Deep Dive, and Demo Days bring together the largest gathering of creative founders, industry leaders, and investors in the nation.

Creative Startups course content centers on startup learning methodologies including Lean Launchpad, Business Canvas, and Customer Validation/Acquisition.  Here's what is different: our entire approach reflects the creative process, design thinking, and a passion for creativity.

The Virtual Accelerator course was built in partnership with Creative Startups by leading entrepreneurship faculty of Stanford University and is coupled with decades of experience working with creatives entrepreneurs.  In addition to teaching core entrepreneurship concepts, Creative Startups increases your leadership skills, helps you develop your interpersonal communication "toolbox", and connects you with a supportive network and resource set through mentoring and alumni engagement.

Creative Startups is a startup accelerator designed for creatives using new technologies to meet new market opportunities.  The application process is competitive, only 8-12 teams of founding members will be accepted.  The goal of Creative Startups is to get your venture beyond the launch stage to customer acquisition and profitability.  If your business is generating revenues or is already profitable but you know it has the potential for dramatic growth, you will gain the networks, strategy, and investment to achieve this growth.

More info on the program schedule is available here.

What does the fee cover?

Everything except airfare. (Really?) YES!

The fee covers:

  • All Virtual Accelerator materials
  • 5 days/nights lodging
  • All food, snacks, and beverages (except alcohol)
  • 6 months of mentoring for Top Finalists.

What is the fee for participating?

2017 is TBD, but will not terribly different than 2016.

2016 fee was $795 per person.
We encourage TEAMS of founders to apply.

This price for all participants is subsidized through grants provided by the National Science Foundation, NMEPSCoR, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Kauffman Foundation, the City of Albuquerque, and the Fleischaker Women's Legacy Fund. The true cost for an individual participant would otherwise be $13,270, our funders reduce the burden on our entrepreneurs by over 90%!  (Thank you, generous funders!!)

In return for this reduced price we invite accepted startups to "pay it forward" by helping us bring creative startup resources to entrepreneurs and communities across the country. For example, our Alums have helped mentor Native American youth, have written blog posts, and have hosted us in their city to meet with leaders and entrepreneurs. The Creative Startups community is growing around the world and our Alumni are at the heart of this effort!

Full tuition must be received a week prior to classes starting to guarantee your spot at the Creative Startups Accelerator.
